Kenny Rogers Roasters Celebrates Aidilfitri with Yayasan Chow Kit

In the spirit of Aidilfitri, Kenny Rogers Roasters (KRR) recently celebrated the joyful occasion with 30 local neighbourhood kids from Yayasan Chow Kit at its restaurant located in Berjaya Times Square.

In line with KRR’s “I Love icare” campaign, the Jamuan Raya served as a way for KRR employees to connect with those in need, especially children. Besides offering wholesome meals to the children, the KRR team members played and interacted with the kids via the fun and games planned including a unique game entitled Pass My Muffin and KRR’s first mobile application – Muffin Maniac.

“As festivities often associate with togetherness and joy, the KRR Jamuan Raya is something that we hold very close to our hearts and has now become part of our annual tradition. With games that inspire laughter, imagination and teamwork, we know that both the children and adults had a wonderful and ‘festive’ time at the Jamuan,” said Christina Thong, Marketing Manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd.

The kids were separated into five groups for the Pass My Muffin game where they were required to pass the muffin photo board back and forth while music was being played. When the music stopped, those holding the muffin-board in hand were eliminated. The last five kids standing then went on to compete on the Muffin Maniac application by slashing muffins on screen.

“While we wanted the children to enjoy themselves, we also wanted to make sure they received a nutritious and balanced meal that will hopefully develop into an understanding on wholesome eating habits,” explained Christina. The children each received a wholesome Kenny’s Quarter Lite Meal and a prize for participating in the games.

Nine year-old Melna commented: “I’ve eaten at Kenny Rogers Roasters once before with my ‘atuk’, but I don’t remember the food being so good. It was really delicious!”

Yayasan Chow Kit was founded in 2006. What started off as an expansion of a government-run day care centre, grew to a 24-hour crisis and drop-in centre, providing meals, therapy activities, case management and education programmes to local neighbourhood kids around Chow Kit area. The foundation remains true to its vision to improve lives of the local neighbourhood kids and youths.
